Sajith Premadasa, the SJB presidential candidate, has promised to turn all hospitals and schools into smart institutions in his administration.

Soon after taking office, Premadasa announced intentions to create 14 industries as a pilot project in a few Divisional Secretariat areas in the Kurunegala district during a speech at a rally in Kuliyapitiya.

“We will expand the initiative to other divisional secretariat areas in the Kurunegala district once these factories are operational.” Given that Kurunegala is a hub for agriculture, modernising agriculture is equally important, he said.

Should Premadasa win the presidency, he promises smart institutions.”

Premadasa also pledged to digitalise hospitals and schools around the country.

During the event, Humanitarian People’s Alliance (Maanushika Janatha Sandanaya) MP Dayasiri Jayasekera asserted that a number of MPs who are now supporting President Ranil Wickremesinghe will shortly defect to Premadasa. He said, “Geetha’s defection to the SJB is just the beginning.”

According to Jayasekera, Wickremesinghe’s campaign managers were aware that he was predicted to finish fourth in the presidential election scheduled for September 21. “The momentum has vanished. Wickremesinghe is no longer motivated to triumph. We implore individuals who have joined him to think again while there is still time,” he said.
