On Thursday, in the beautiful sunshine at Lord’s, Sri Lankan captain Dhananjaya de Silva chose to bowl after winning the toss in the second test of the three-match series against England.
After winning the first test at Old Trafford by five wickets last week, England made one forced change, substituting seamer Olly Stone for the injured Mark Wood.
Pathum Nissanka was substituted for Kusal Mendis by Sri Lanka, and seamer Lahiru Kumara took Vishwa Fernando’s place.
Despite being struck on the thumb while batting at Old Trafford, Dinesh Chandimal is still a member of the team.
