During the first day of the first Test at Old Trafford on Wednesday, Sri Lanka rallied from 6-3 to be dismissed for 236 by England.

After losing their first three wickets for no runs in 10 balls, Sri Lanka’s fast bowler Milan Rathnayake, batting at No. 9, made 72 to tie the match. Dhananjaya de Silva top-scored with 74.

In the first Test against England, Sri Lanka is 236 all out.

After De Silva won the toss, Chris Woakes struck twice in an over and took 3-32 from 11 overs in the opening game of this three-match series.

Following Ben Stokes’ withdrawal due to a torn hamstring, Ollie Pope captained England for the first time against off-spinner Shoaib Bashir, who finished with figures of 3-55 in 23 overs.
