Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has confirmed that Niroshan Dickwella, a cricket player from Sri Lanka, has been suspended from all forms of cricket with immediate effect for an alleged anti-doping violation.
The SLC states that the suspension will be in effect until further notice.
It was determined that Dickwella had engaged in doping during the most recent Lanka Premiere League (LPL).
According to reports, the Sri Lanka Anti-Doping Agency’s doping test produced the results of this.
“Niroshan Dickwella is barred from playing cricket in all formats.”
The test, which was carried out by the Sri Lanka Anti-Doping Agency (SLADA) during the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2024, was a component of SLC’s continuous efforts to uphold the integrity of the sport, the company said.It also stated that the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) guidelines and cooperation with the Ministry of Sports are being followed in order to ensure that cricket is free from the influence of drugs that are prohibited.
The national cricket governing body stressed in a statement that these tests are randomly conducted during domestic tournaments by SLC, the Ministry of Sports, and SLADA in order to protect the sport from anti-doping violations.The statement went on to say, “SLC is fully committed to maintaining a clean and fair game, and any accusations of violations are taken very seriously.”
