The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) presidential candidate, MP Namal Rajapaksa, urged all of the party’s departing members to re-join yesterday, July 7.
“Namal asks the SLPP dissidents to come back.”
“For a very long time, we collaborated. To guarantee the victory of the nation and party members, we must unite,” he declared.According to Rajapaksa, some political figures were trying to create crossovers in order to destroy the party. But in the end, SLPP supporters choose who to back, he claimed.The party had declared earlier in the day that MP Namal Rajapaksa would run for president.
The SLPP General Secretary, Sagara Kariyawasam, addressed the assembly and announced the party’s decision to field a youthful candidate who could speak to the issues that affect all Sri Lankans. The SLPP sought a candidate who could lead the nation through the upcoming turbulent times in addition to being an election victor.
