Flag-howing tomorrow, August 6, is set to kick off the annual festival at the historic Shrine of Our Lady of Madhu, a Roman Catholic church. The celebration runs through August 15. Bishop Dr. Emmanuel Fernando of Mannar and K. Kanakeswaran, the district secretary, led a discussion that resulted in this decision at the Mannar district office.
“Tomorrow is Madhu Church feast day, which is expected to attract over 500,000 devotees”
The festival is anticipated to draw over 500,000 devotees this year. Potable water, sanitary facilities, food, and medical services are being arranged in order to accommodate the large number of attendees. Mannar’s administrative and security teams are set up to efficiently oversee these arrangements.
It has also been requested that food served in the makeshift kitchens erected on the temple grounds be subject to ongoing inspections. Mannar public health inspectors and health officials are getting ready to make sure these requirements are fulfilled.
