Yesterday, the main opposition SJB urged the public to boycott the MPs in the upcoming elections who defect to the government in exchange for ministerial positions and financial benefits.
SJB Gampaha District MP Harshana Rajakaruna addressed the media at the opposition leader’s office in Colombo, citing circulating rumours that the government was planning to acquire a few more opposition MPs. “Those who cross over for financial gain or other benefits are nothing more than political sex workers.” Time will show that by joining the government, they committed political hara-kiri, even though they may take pleasure in the benefits, money, and ministerial positions they receive for betraying the people’s confidence, according to Rajakaruna.
“Voting against traitors who join the government for benefits is advised by JB.”
“We urge voters to oust these political swindlers in the upcoming elections. Such individuals ought to be expelled from politics. In order to keep their majority in Parliament, the President and the government are making every effort to postpone elections. In the interim, they are buying out opposition MPs. This cross-cultural interaction ought to end. In upcoming elections, we urge the public to boycott these politicians,” the MP declared.
