The police have located the vehicle that was used in the Athurugiriya shooting incident, which claimed the lives of two people, including Surendra Wasantha Perera, popularly known as “Club Wasantha,” in the Koratota neighbourhood of Kaduwela.
The shooting had taken place during a beauty salon’s grand opening ceremony close to Athurugiriya’s clock tower. After the gunshot, six people were taken to the hospital.
Police subsequently verified, nevertheless, that well-known businessman Surendra Wasantha Perera, 55, popularly known as “Club Wasantha,” and a 38-year-old man had passed away from his wounds after being admitted to the hospital.

Four more people, including well-known singer K. Sujeewa, were also hurt and are now being treated in a hospital. Among the four injured are three women. While the other women are receiving care at Homagama Hospital, a man and an injured woman are being treated at Colombo National Hospital.
Authorities claimed that footage from a nearby CCTV camera showed both the gunmen firing and the vehicle in which the suspects had arrived. According to police investigations, the gunmen used two T56 assault rifles to carry out the shooting. They had arrived in a white car.
In order to apprehend the suspects, police are currently conducting investigations.
