Kumari Kotalawala, Director of the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS), states that a delegation from the Global Relations and Youth Promotion divisions of the Singapore Red Cross recently visited the country at the invitation of the SLRCS and participated in several programs with the Colombo Red Cross branch.
To observe the school and preschool education systems in Sri Lanka and the activities of the SLRCS Youth Wing, the Singaporean delegation went on a special field visit to Homagama Maha Vidyalaya, Godagama Subharathi Mahamathya Vidyalaya, Bope Rajasinghe Vidyalaya, Piliyandala Somaweera Chandrasiri Vidyalaya, and the “Viru Kekulu” preschool at the Panagoda Army Cantonment.
“Singapore Red Cross activists in series of Colombo programs”
Jagath Abeysinghe, Senior Vice President of the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society, mentioned that during a special discussion following the tour, Ang Qian Hui, Head of the Youth Development Division of the Singapore Red Cross, announced that a group of Junior Red Cross members from Singapore will visit Sri Lanka from June 13 to June 19 to participate in an experience-sharing program with local school children.
The visit included Ms. Chia Cheng Han from the Youth Development Division and Ms. Liew Yi Chen from the International Relations Division of the Singapore Red Cross, as well as Chamod Savinda Prathibha, Education Coordinator of the SLRCS Colombo Branch, and other officials.
