“Minimize Fuel Consumption- CPC Chairman”
Speaking to the media today (10), the Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), D.J. Rajakaruna, urged the public to consume fuel as sparingly as possible to manage the energy crisis arising from the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.
Addressing the recent hike in fuel prices, Rajakaruna stated that panic buying—driven by fears of a fuel shortage over the past few days—significantly contributed to the price increase. He noted that had this situation not occurred, it would have been possible to maintain the previous fuel prices until the end of this month.
Emphasizing that the current energy crisis is impacting the entire world, Rajakaruna warned that a failure to act collectively could lead to a severe risk. Therefore, he requested the public to limit their consumption to navigate the crisis effectively.
