Tourist arrivals in 2026 exceed 400,000

During a press conference held in Colombo today (19th), the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Professor Ruwan Ranasinghe, announced that approximately 436,000 tourists have arrived in the island during the period leading up to February 15, 2026.

The Minister stated that plans are underway to implement a global tourism promotion program targeting 15 key countries.

A sum of Rs. 2 billion has been allocated for these global promotional activities.

He emphasized that Sri Lanka has successfully elevated its image to a high standard globally, resulting in a significant quantitative increase in tourist arrivals.

Comparing the arrival of 436,000 tourists by mid-February to previous years, the Minister noted that this represents a substantial increase in growth.
