“Gov Pay to the Southern Province starting today”
Gov Pay facilities have been extended to the Southern Province for the payment of traffic fines starting today (20), stated Harsha Purasinghe, a member of the Board of Directors of the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA), at a press conference held today. Accordingly, the facility for paying traffic fines through Gov Pay now covers the Western Province and the Southern Province, Harsha Purasinghe mentioned.
For the coverage of the Southern Province, over 400 mobile phones have been provided to police stations located within the province, and there are currently plans to implement this system in the Northern Province in the future.
Purasinghe further stated that steps are being taken to extend the internet-based facility for paying traffic fines to all provinces across Sri Lanka before the end of this year.
Commenting further, Harsha Purasinghe said that the highest amount of fines under the Gov Pay traffic fine payment process has been collected from the Western Province, with nearly 20,000 traffic offences generating approximately LKR 30 million in traffic fines so far.
