The Department of Railways states that the restoration of the derailed train, which occurred yesterday (19) when a mound of earth collapsed onto the Intercity Express train running from Kandy to Colombo Fort near the Ihala Kotte railway station, may be further delayed.

Accordingly, the Department of Railways took steps to cancel 07 train services this morning (20).

As the restoration work for the derailment is expected to be further delayed, the Department of Railways has taken steps to cancel two more train services. Accordingly, the train operating from Colombo Fort to Nanu Oya at 12:40 PM and the Express train running from Kandy to Colombo Fort at 3:00 PM have been cancelled.
