Bus tickets made compulsory in Western Province  starting today

Jeevinda Keerthirathna, the Operations Manager of the Western Province Road Passenger Transport Authority (WPRPTA), stated that effective today (01), a fine will be imposed on passengers traveling on buses without a ticket, and a fine will also be imposed on conductors who fail to issue tickets.

Accordingly, Keerthirathna mentioned that from today (01), it is mandatory for passengers traveling on buses operating within the Western Province to keep the ticket in their possession.

Gamini Jasinghe, the Chairman of the Western Province Road Passenger Transport Authority, further stated that starting today, both the act of the passenger obtaining a ticket and the conductor issuing a ticket to the passenger are compulsory.
