President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who is in the United States to attend the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, met with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk yesterday afternoon, US time, at the Human Rights Council Auditorium of the United Nations Secretariat.

High Commissioner Volker Türk extended a warm welcome to President Dissanayake and engaged in bilateral discussions.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath, along with Sri Lanka’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and former Chief Justice, President’s Counsel Jayantha Jayasuriya, were also present at the event.
