The Sri Lankan Ambassador to Israel, Nimal Bandara, told the Serenbona media network that a special discussion was held to grant visas to Sri Lankans currently in Israel without a visa.

This topic was discussed at the annual meeting of the Parliamentary Friendship Association, which was established in the Israeli Parliament to build parliamentary-level cooperation between Israel and Sri Lanka.

During the meeting, it was pointed out that there are Sri Lankans as well as other nationals living in Israel without visas. Accordingly, Ambassador Bandara was asked to present information on the matter before the Israeli Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Workers. The Ambassador further stated that he hopes to present facts regarding this issue to the committee at the next discussion.

Concurrently with this meeting, training opportunities for Sri Lankan parliamentary officials in Israel were also discussed.

The meeting was attended by the President of the Israel-Sri Lanka Friendship Association, Dr. Tsega Melaku, officials from the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, officials from the Parliament’s Foreign Policy Division, and the Deputy Head of the Sri Lankan Embassy in Israel, Hemantha Ekanayake.
