It is reported that the United National Party’s (UNP) Working Committee, which met recently (on the 16th), has decided to lift all party bans imposed on UNP members who faced disciplinary action and had their party membership suspended for joining the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB).

A committee has also been appointed to look into the legal implications that may arise in this regard, headed by former Attorney General and President’s Counsel, Mr. Tilak Marapana.

The Chairman of the UNP, Vajira Abeywardena, stated that this move by the Working Committee has removed the obstacles that prevented UNP members who joined the SJB from rejoining the UNP and working together collaboratively.
