“A Great Victory for Sri Lanka”
Sri Lanka’s cricket team claimed a comfortable six-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the Asia Cup T20 tournament, held in Abu Dhabi yesterday (13).
After winning the toss, the Sri Lankan captain invited Bangladesh to bat first. Bangladesh’s innings got off to a difficult start, with Nuwan Thushara taking the first wicket in the very first over. Dushmantha Chameera then dismissed Hossain Emon in the second over, putting Bangladesh under immense pressure.
Another wicket fell due to Kamil Mishara’s superb fielding, and Wanindu Hasaranga further dismantled the Bangladeshi batting lineup by taking the wickets of Litton Das and Mahedi Hasan. Despite losing their first five wickets for just 53 runs, Jaker Ali and Shamim Hossain managed to bring some respectability to the innings.
Bangladesh finished their allotted 20 overs with a score of 139 for 5.
In response, Sri Lanka was set a target of 140 runs. They chased down the score in 14.4 overs, losing only four wickets, to secure the victory.
Pathum Nissanka was the star of Sri Lanka’s chase, with a brilliant knock of 50 runs. With this innings, he surpassed the 2,000-run milestone in international T20 cricket, becoming the third Sri Lankan batsman to achieve this feat. Kamil Mishara also made a valuable contribution, remaining unbeaten with a score of 46.
