“Tourists rescued after boat accident en route to Delft Island”
Fourteen local tourists whose lives were at risk after their boat sank while traveling from Jaffna to Delft Island have been rescued by individuals on another boat.
The incident occurred when the boat, carrying 14 local tourists and two crew members, was en route to Delft Island from the Kurikadduwan Jetty in Jaffna.
When the boat began to sink, the crew raised a white flag and called for help. Another boat passing nearby immediately responded, reaching the sinking vessel and safely transferring everyone aboard their boat. They then returned to the Kurikadduwan Jetty. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the incident.
The Navy and Kurikadduwan Police are currently investigating the incident.
