The National Livestock Development Board (NLDB) resumed the production and sale of Ultra-High Temperature (UHT) processed liquid milk yesterday (01) at the Narahenpita Livestock Development Board premises. The event was officiated by K.D. Lal Kantha, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands, and Irrigation.
“NLDB resumes production and sale of liquid milk”
For many years, the NLDB provided numerous vital services to the public. However, due to certain political decisions made by previous governments, the institution faced the threat of closure. The current government has decided to rebuild the NLDB and restore its services to the public, and this resumption of UHT milk production is a significant step in that direction.
The special occasion of unveiling the one-litre pack of NLDB’s liquid milk was carried out by the Minister.
During the event, the Minister stated, “There was, and perhaps still is, a perception in society and among employees here that this institution would close or was about to close. Our government will not close this institution. As a government, we will support its further promotion and advancement. Both the Chairman and all of us want to see our country develop.”
The event was attended by Dr. B.C.S. Perera, Chairman of the National Livestock Development Board, and a group of officials.
