Civil security personnel recruited to control elephant-human conflicts

Deputy Minister of Environment, Anton Jayakody, states that a decision has been made to recruit civil security personnel to control the elephant-human conflict.

This decision was reached during a recent discussion with the President. Deputy Minister Jayakody further mentioned that the President has instructed the Director-General of the Civil Security Department to take the necessary steps in this regard. Accordingly, the President has advised the Department of Wildlife Conservation to provide information on the required number of civil security personnel.

The Deputy Minister also stated that the President has instructed the Department of Wildlife Conservation to provide details on the number of civil security personnel needed. It’s also noted that the proposed civil security personnel for this recruitment will receive an additional payment in excess of their current salaries.
