Ravindra Hewavitharana, a senior official with 36 years of experience in the public administration service, has authored “Avida Minisun Athara” (Walking Among People). The book will be launched on June 25th at 3:00 PM at the Ministry of Sports Auditorium, Philip Gunawardena Mawatha (Reid Avenue), Colombo 07.

Hewavitharana received his primary education at Sangamiththa Junior College, Neligama, Mahara, and Ananda College, Colombo. He is a graduate of the University of Kelaniya. Ravindra Hewavitharana joined the public administration service in 1987. He served as Divisional Secretary for Kolonna from 1988 and Opanayake from 1994. Later, he held positions as a Director and Director General at the Samurdhi Authority. He also served as Director of the Rural Development and Research Training Institute, Commissioner General of the Agrarian Services Department, and District Secretary for Galle. Subsequently, he was the Secretary to the Ministry of State Enterprise Development and the Ministry of Plantation Industries.
He is widely known as an individual who worked tirelessly as a “Pratisothagami” in the public administration service and as a pioneer in establishing participatory development methods as a grassroots development factor in rural areas of Sri Lanka.
Veteran writer Chulananda Samaranayake, senior public administration service official Sudath Ranugge, and lecturer Dhamma Dissanayake will participate in the discussion about the book.
