“Deployment of Sri Lankans for employment to Israel temporarily suspended”
Deputy Minister of Foreign Employment Arun Hemachandra
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment, Arun Hemachandra, announced today (16) at a press conference that Sri Lanka has temporarily suspended the deployment of Sri Lankan workers to Israel. This decision comes in light of the prevailing military situation between Israel and Iran.
Minister Hemachandra further stated that this measure is a precautionary safety step. He elaborated, “Due to the ongoing war situation between Israel and Iran, sending individuals for foreign employment to Israel has been temporarily suspended. Given the current situation, we should be able to make a decision on this matter within the next few days. We specifically want to advise our citizens in both Israel and Iran to maintain contact with the embassy. We have provided the necessary phone numbers. If there’s a problematic situation, there’s no hindrance to contacting us. Our priority is the safety of our citizens.”
