The highly revered Bandarawela Amithananda Thero, a renowned Dhamma speaker who was receiving treatment in the 41st ward of the Colombo National Hospital due to an illness, passed away this afternoon (29th).

Having been ill for a long time, the Thero carried out a tremendous religious service for the long-standing of the Buddha Sasana in this country and was also the founder of the Delgoda ‘Yowun Sithata Daham Sisila’ (Dhamma Coolness to the Young Mind) Center.

He was also a venerable monk who made great efforts to incline the youth of this country towards religion.”
