The Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation has announced that card payments will commence on expressways from today (21).

According to the Ministry, card payment facilities have been implemented at the exit gates of the Southern Expressway, the Colombo-Katunayake Expressway, and the Meerigama-Kurunegala section of the Central Expressway. These services will be operational from today at 35 interchanges and 119 exit gates.

The Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation further stated that this initiative is being launched in accordance with the government’s digitalization policy, with the primary goal of making public life easier and faster by utilizing new technology to establish an efficient transportation service within the country
