The Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, left for Switzerland yesterday morning (18) to attend the 78th Annual World Health Assembly.
The assembly will be held in Geneva, Switzerland, from today (19) to the 27th, and this year’s theme is “One Healthy World.”

The health ministers of all member countries of the World Health Organization are scheduled to participate in this assembly, along with over five thousand government officials representing the health sector from all those countries.
A broad discussion is planned with the participation of all attendees, and based on the proposals, ideas, and research data presented, the necessary provisions and decisions to improve global health conditions in the coming year will be made, and related future plans will be formulated.
Representing Sri Lanka at this assembly, in addition to the Minister of Health and Mass Media, will be the Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Mass Media, Specialist Dr. Anil Jasinghe, the Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations in Geneva, Himali Arunatilaka, the First Secretary of the United Nations in Geneva, Nishanthini Victor, and a team of officials
Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni has been appointed as the Acting Minister of Health and Mass Media by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake
