Reuven Azar, who recently presented his credentials as the Ambassador of the State of Israel to Sri Lanka, visited the Ministry to meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, Wijitha Herath. During this meeting, a successful discussion was held to foster mutually beneficial growth in various sectors between the two countries, including economic, security, and employment areas.

Good news for Sri Lankans in Israel without visas

The Ambassador informed Minister Wijitha Herath that a large number of Sri Lankans are currently employed in various sectors in Israel, and the Israeli government is working to provide even more job opportunities for Sri Lankans.

Minister Wijitha Herath requested the Ambassador to inform the Israeli government to grant amnesty to the Sri Lankans who have been facing various difficulties due to the expiration of their visas for the past few years, and to take steps to include them in the labour force and not to take legal action against them. The Ambassador agreed to promptly forward this request to the Israeli government.
