The discussion was held at the Irrigation Director General’s office under the patronage of the Arun Hemachandra, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment. The Director General, along with the Assistant Director General of Irrigation, Executive Engineers of Batticaloa and Trincomalee, and the Project Manager of the Mundeni Aru Project, participated in this meeting.
“Steps to strengthen the Eastern Province irrigation system”
Several crucial irrigation programs in the Eastern Province were brought into focus during this meeting, including the Mundeni Aru Project, Yan Oya compensation matters, the Unnichchai Project, and other regionally significant development activities.
Discussions also revolved around the progress of implementing relevant disaster management considerations and other studies, as well as the necessary budgetary allocations to efficiently advance these projects.
The Deputy Minister expressed his gratitude to the Dr. Susil Ranasinghe, Deputy Minister of Lands and Irrigation, for organizing this important and timely discussion aimed at enhancing the agricultural landscape and sustainable water resource management in the Eastern Province
