Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) Media Spokesperson Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe stated during a press conference held yesterday (22) that the current budget has provided a positive solution to the issue regarding payments for doctors’ extra duties.

Due to the intense discussion that prevailed in the country over the past period, alleging that budget proposals would cut allowances in the health sector, some health professional unions even resorted to strike actions, and discussions were also held with authorities, all in the hope of receiving a positive response to this.
