Floods forced the closure of the A-9 main road to Jaffna at Omanthai, but police said it is now reopened for traffic, last Wednesday, the Omanthai Police Division announced that the road was closed to vehicles because the area near Nochchimoddai Bridge and Omanthai Town was completely inundated.

Nevertheless, the area’s floodwaters have now receded.

The police have since announced that vehicles can now travel on the A-9 road as usual.
