Between Badulla and Bandarawela, heaps of rocks and earth have fallen over the rails, disrupting train services on the up-country line, according to Sri Lanka Railways.

Meanwhile, the Badulla District Disaster Management Coordination Unit has reported that severe weather blocked a number of roads in the Badulla District.

Upcountry train service disrupted.

The disruptions have been caused by landslides, the collapse of earth and rock mounds, and fallen trees obstructing the roads, the unit said.

The Haputale-Beragala road, the Badulla-Passara road near the third milepost, the Badulla-Bandarawela road near Uduwara Milk Factory, the Spring Valley road via Kadhana in Badulla, the seventh-milepost on the Badulla-Passara main road, and the Bibila-Lunugala road near Arawakumbura are some of the routes that are affected.

Until these roads are cleared and safe to travel on, police have advised drivers to take alternate routes.
