“Speaker responds to the controversial conduct of MP Archchuna Ramanathan”
Even on social media platforms, there was a lot of discussion about the MP’s behaviour and certain of his controversial comments on recordings that were posted.
The Speaker stated that he plans to speak with the MP directly about this matter and determine what needs to be addressed after their discussion.
Speaking to the media following his visit to Kandy last Sunday (24), he made these remarks.
We don’t know what his personal objectives are. But there is no doubt about the goals of the people he represents. In the current political climate, such behaviour is not supported by the public. All citizens, whether from the North, the West, or the East, want the country to develop and remain united.
“We acknowledge that a single individual was responsible for this act. We reviewed his actions as well as his Facebook and other social media accounts. We’ll take a responsible approach, discuss to him about it, and try to find a sensible solution,” he added.
The Speaker additionally reaffirmed the current government’s commitment to meeting the people’s expectations and aspirations.
