At the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake, a person was detained after illegally smuggling a huge quantity of cigarettes into the country.
The suspected passenger who had arrived from Dubai to Sri Lanka has been taken into arrest by officers of the BIA’s Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) unit.

According to police, the arrested suspect is a Kottawa resident who is 25 years old.
A total of 59,980 sticks of foreign cigarettes, illegally imported into the country, were seized from him while the Police Narcotics Bureau is conducting a further investigation into the issue.
