The conclusion of the Parliamentary Election conducted on the 14^th of November 2024  saw National People’s Power (NPP) Gampaha District Team Leader Vijitha Herath receiving the highest number of preference votes in the history of Sri Lanka’s parliamentary polls with an unprecedented 716,715 votes polled . Likewise fellow NPP candidate and Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya achieved the highest preferential votes in the Colombo District; she had received a staggering 655,289 votes.
