A Special bus transportation plan for the general election

The Chairman of the Transport Board emphasized the importance of the National Transport Commission’s intervention and noted that the special private bus operation plan would make this initiative more successful.

Additionally, according to the Director General of the National Transport Commission, a plan has been implemented for the operation of private sector buses. As a result, special attention has been directed to Matara, Kandy, and Badulla, where there is a higher demand for transport, with a large number of private buses allocated to take people to their hometowns for the national election.

The National Transport Commission is also prepared to provide a range of special transport facilities at the Bastian Mawatha Central Bus Terminal in Colombo and the Makumbura Bus Terminal.

Due to the high demand for transportation to travel to hometowns on November 12 and 13, and to return to Colombo from the 14th onward, more attention has been given to these dates.

Furthermore, the Director General mentioned that a sufficient number of private buses have been allocated, and although some congestion may occur at bus terminals due to large groups arriving simultaneously, she requested people not to assume this is due to a lack of buses.
