The first flight of Russia’s Azur Air’s seasonal winter flights to Sri Lanka arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake yesterday (November 6).

With 332 passengers, the inaugural flight arrived down at the BIA yesterday morning at 10:05 a.m.

Winter flights to Sri Lanka resumed by Russia’s Azur Air

Sri Lanka Tourism arranged a traditional Kandyan dance performance to welcome the passengers, while Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Pvt) Limited gave a ceremonial water cannon welcome to the flight.

For the winter 2024–2025 seasons, Azur Air will operate flights five times a week from five major Russian cities: Vnukovo (VKO), Tolmachevo (OVB), Krasnoyarsk (KJA), St. Petersburg (LED), and Sochi (AER) aboard Boeing 767-300 aircraft, which can accommodate 336 passengers in economy class.
