Former State Minister Lohan Ratwatte has been admitted to the prison hospital owing to an illness, and it has been decided to give him special security.
According to Prisons Commissioner and Spokesman Gamini B. Dissanayake, this extraordinary protection has been provided in accordance with court orders because Lohan Ratwatte was the former State Minister in charge of prisons.

On October 31, he was arrested into custody by the Mirihana Police in Katugastota, Kandy, on suspicion of a luxury car that had been illegally brought from abroad and assembled together in Sri Lanka.
Later, the Mirihana Police produced him before the Acting Magistrate of Nugegoda, who ordered his remand until November 7.
Ratwatte’s wife was also notified to appear at the Mirihana Police station to give a statement about the relevant vehicle.
