The airport authorities had been informed that the luggage of a young lady named Grigoryan Marin who is a famous compere and reputed journalist from Armenia who came to visit Sri Lanka on flight No: GP502 on 20.10.2024 had gone missing.

The authorities informed the airport police and under the initiative of Police Inspector Wasantha Kumara, the security camera system was monitored and it was identified that this luggage was taken by someone else. A woman from Badulla who came on the same flight had taken it and with great effort she was arrested and brought to court. Accordingly, the Negombo Court has ordered the woman who committed this theft to pay a compensation of 06 lakhs to the female passenger. The Station Commander of the Airport Tourist Police has mentioned that it had been paid in two instalments.
This foreign journalist has released a special video thanking the airport travel police and staff for acting so efficiently about this theft and giving her the bag quickly. In this video released today before returning to her country, she expressed her special thanks to the Honourable Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation Mr. Vijitha Herath and his private secretary who took action immediately after the incident and ordered to take the relevant legal measures. As a result of this action, the belief that foreign tourists coming to Sri Lanka will have all the facilities to complete their journey safely without any hindrance will greatly help the progress of tourism in the country.
