Tomorrow (17), UNP leader and former president Ranil Wickremesinghe is scheduled to make a special statement.
It will be his first speech in front of the public since the election of the presidential. Wickremesinghe is anticipated to address the political climate of the country and lay out his future plans in the statement.

He has made the decision not to run in the upcoming elections or use the National list to get into Parliament. Party insiders said that he will instead serve as the leader of the newly formed Democratic Front, which plans to run for office in the general election under a symbol of a gas cylinder.
