With effect from yesterday (09), Sarath Ganegoda has been appointed as the new chairman of SriLankan Airlines. Under Mr. Ganegoda’s chairmanship, the national carrier of Sri Lanka has also chosen a new Board of Directors.
The new Board of Directors of SriLankan Airlines:
“SriLankan Airlines has appointed Sarath Ganegoda as its new chairman.”
A well-known businessman, Mr. Ganegoda is the Group Executive Director of the multinational company Hayley’s PLC in Sri Lanka and the Deputy Chairman of Alumex PLC at the moment.
In July 2007, he was appointed to the Group Management Committee after joining the Hayleys Group in 2007. In September 2009, he was appointed to the Hayleys PLC Board, and in November 2010, he was appointed to the Alumex PLC Board.
He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Management Accountants of Australia as well as a Fellow Member of CA Sri Lanka. From the University of Sri Jayewardenepura’s Post Graduate Institute of Management, he received an MBA. He held a number of high-level management positions in large business entities in Sri Lanka as overseas.
