In the forthcoming parliamentary elections, the Democratic Left Front (Prajathanthravadi Vamanshika Peramuna) has officially announced that it will support the National People’s Power (NPP).

At a press conference yesterday (08), the party’s leader and former MP Vasudeva Nanayakkara confirmed this decision.

“The parliamentary election is approaching, and our party has decided to support the National People’s Power,” Nanayakkara said regarding the party’s position. In this election, we will be contesting them while backing in these elections.

He gave an explanation of the Democratic Left Front’s efforts to join forces with the NPP, saying, “We have worked to establish a relationship with the National People’s Power and jointly contest in this election. We made an effort to work together even throughout the presidential election. We thus extend our full support to the National People’s Power, even though it ultimately came down to a policy matter for the NPP.”

As we go into this election, we are committed to stand the National People’s Power. He continued, “We have to tell our supporters that the vote they give for us is a vote for the NPP.
