A crucial step towards reinforcing the two countries’ strong diplomatic relationships was taken between the visit.

High Commissioner Patrick expressed the best wishes of the British government for President Dissanayake’s term and congratulated him on his recent election at the meeting. In addition, he received warm wishes and congratulations from Sir Keir Starmer, the British prime minister, and King Charles III.


The British government remains fully committed to supporting Sri Lanka’s efforts to draw in Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs), the High Commissioner said, underscoring the significance of cooperation in the field of education. Additionally, he expressed UK support for the debt restructuring process and the IMF program.
