“Here is the list of dengue high-risk zones – Department of Government Information”
The Department of Government Information has issued a special notice declaring 538 Grama Niladhari divisions across 14 districts island-wide as high-risk zones, aiming to control the current spread of dengue and accelerate suppression efforts. According to the announcement, the Western Province is currently the worst affected, with the majority of the high-risk Grama Niladhari divisions located within the Colombo, Gampaha, and Kalutara districts.
Accordingly, in the Colombo District, Grama Niladhari divisions within the Colombo Municipal Council area, as well as several Medical Officer of Health divisions such as Battaramulla, Maharagama, Piliyandala, Homagama, Kaduwela, Boralesgamuwa, Dehiwala, Egoda Uyana, and Gothatuwa have been identified as high-risk. In the Gampaha District, Grama Niladhari divisions in numerous areas including Attanagalla, Seeduwa, Kelaniya, Ragama, Minuwangoda, Negombo, Biyagama, Wattala, Katana, and Mahara have also been added to this risk list.
In the Kalutara District, divisions in areas including Bandaragama, Horana, Ingiriya, Matugama, Panadura, Wadduwa, Kalutara, and Payagala fall under this category. The notice further states that Grama Niladhari divisions located in the Galle, Hambantota, Matara, Kandy, Matale, Ratnapura, Kegalle, Kurunegala, Puttalam, Badulla, and Batticaloa districts are also included in this high-risk list.
