“Sacred Relics and Sri Maha Bodhi Sapling Brought to North America”
The sacred sapling of the historical Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi from Anuradhapura, along with the Sacred Omniscient Relics and other hallowed objects, arrived at the Dallas Airport in Texas, USA, on May 01, amidst the profound veneration of a large gathering of devotees.
The delegation, including the Maha Sangha from Sri Lanka and the Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, was officially received at the airport. They were welcomed by Venerable Pannyakara Thero, the Sri Lankan Ambassador to the United States, Mahinda Samarasinghe, and Consul General Lanka Pannila, among others.
Following the arrival, the Sacred Relics and the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi sapling were escorted in a grand motorcade from the airport to the Maha Vipassana Meditation Center in Texas. A notable highlight of the event was the participation of a vast number of both Sri Lankan Buddhists living in America and Vietnamese devotees.
The public exposition of the Sacred Relics commenced at the Maha Vipassana Meditation Center on May 02 for public honor and worship. This event marks a rare and significant religious opportunity for the Buddhist community residing in the United States.
