Service charges for banquet owners and caterers on the rise

Akila Jayaratne, President of the All Ceylon Banquet owners and Caterers’ Association, stated during a press conference today (08) that the service charges for banquet halls and caterers have been increased effective immediately.

It was revealed that this decision was necessitated by the ongoing fuel crisis and the VAT (Value Added Tax) in the country. Accordingly, charges for new orders from May onwards are expected to rise by 15% to 20%, while a 10% price increase will be applied to services that have already been booked.

The All Ceylon Banquet owners and Caterers’ Association further emphasized that they were compelled to take this decision as the industry is facing a severe crisis due to the rising costs of goods.
