No decision taken to close fuel stations tomorrow and day after

Mayura Neththikumarage

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has stated that fuel distribution to dealers will continue tomorrow and the day after.

Mayura Neththikumarage, Managing Director of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, stated that no decision has been taken to close filling stations tomorrow (21) and the day after (22). Addressing reports circulating that the Corporation would be closed this Saturday, Neththikumarage clarified that while standard procedure usually involves the Corporation being closed on one Saturday every month; this has been the basis for the current rumor.

However, he further stated that due to the current situation being a special requirement, the Corporation will remain open as the QR code system is scheduled to be reset this Saturday night. He added that fuel distribution could even be carried out on Sunday if a necessity arises, and that it would not be an issue.

Neththikumarage also mentioned that the Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited (CPSTL) has decided to carry out fuel distribution activities this Saturday as well. Therefore, he noted that consumers should not have any unnecessary fears.
