LilyLanka platform launched to boost Sri Lanka’s digital tourism drive

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism on Tuesday underscored the need for a stronger digital tourism ecosystem at the inauguration of the LilyLanka platform at Barnes Hall, Jetwing Colombo.

Addressing industry stakeholders, the Minister noted that global tourism is increasingly shaped by digital platforms that influence how travellers discover destinations and make bookings. He described LilyLanka as a timely initiative aligned with Sri Lanka’s broader push towards a digital economy and smart tourism, while also helping retain a greater share of tourism revenue within the country.

The Minister called on hotels, tour operators, and travel agencies to actively support the platform, stressing that stronger collaboration between government and industry is essential for sustainable growth. He also highlighted the importance of managing traveller data within a national framework to support better planning and promotion of Sri Lanka as a global destination.
