The Department of Meteorology has taken steps to issue an advisory for severe lightning.

According to the statement, there is a high possibility of severe lightning accompanied by thundershowers in some parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Southern provinces after 2:00 p.m. The advisory further notes that temporary localized strong winds may occur during these thundershowers, and the public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize lightning-related accidents.
