England secured an 11-run victory (DLS method) against Sri Lanka in the first T20 International held yesterday (30) at the Pallekele International Stadium.
Due to prevailing rain, the match could not start on time and was subsequently restricted to 17 overs per side.
After winning the toss, England invited Sri Lanka to bat first. The Sri Lankan side managed to score only 133 runs, losing all their wickets within 16.2 overs. During the innings, Kusal Mendis top-scored with 37 runs, while Pathum Nissanka contributed 23 runs.
With this win, England takes a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20 series.
