An Extraordinary Gazette Notification has been issued by the Director-General of Animal Production and Health (D-GAPH) with the aim of preventing the further spread of African Swine Flu (ASF), which has been reported in various Divisional Secretariat areas across the country.
Under the Animal Diseases Act, No. 59 of 1992, this Gazette Notification declares all districts of Sri Lanka as Risk Areas for African Swine Flu, and pigs as Disease Risk Animals.

This Gazette came into effect on October 3rd and will remain valid for a period not exceeding three months from the date of operation, unless it is revoked earlier or its validity period is extended in accordance with Section 5(3) of the said Act. It further states that the duration can be extended depending on the disease situation.
To restrict the African Swine Flu to the risk areas and prevent its spread, the Director-General of Animal Production and Health, through this Gazette Notification, prohibits the following acts and activities:
